Appointment FAQ
Our services are typically covered at 100% with in-network insurance, or with a gap exception. We are currently in-network with the following providers:
- Aetna (coverage may be limited- please see Acknowledgments for Aetna Clients)
- BCBS (most plans)
- Cigna
- Humana
- Tricare
- Oscar
- United Healthcare
- Sendero
- Aria/Covenant Health (ARC employees)
- MultiPlan
- Partners Direct
For PPO and EPO plans, no referral is required. If your plan requires pre-verification of benefits or is an HMO requiring physician referral, we will obtain those for you. If your provider is not listed, we can attempt to get an out-of-network exception to get your visit(s) covered. Please complete the form below to begin this process.

We are not currently offering in-home visits. HIPAA compliant online video consults are available if our offices are not conveniently located or if you cannot make it into one of our clinics.
Yes. Your goals are our goals. We are here to help you achieve your desired feeding relationship without judgment. Whether it’s exclusively breastfeeding, pumping, combo feeding, or stopping your milk production altogether, we will support and guide you throughout the journey.
A card on file allows us to offer secure, convenient fee processing as needed, saving you time and reducing the incidence of late payments that could accrue additional fees. Rest assured that we will never charge your card without advance notice and a written, detailed explanation, and you can change your payment method at any time. We will do everything possible to get your visit(s) covered, but in accordance with our financial agreement, we may process charges for:
- Late cancellation / late rescheduling / no show fees
- Copay / Coinsurance / Deductible applied by insurance
- Denied claims
- Non-covered patient fee for mom or baby who does not have billable insurance
Insurance policies vary and exclusions may apply. Please be aware that verification of benefits is not a guarantee of eligibility or payment. Final determination is made by the insurance provider upon claim submission and is based on the terms and conditions of each specific plan.
Your initial visit with us is very comprehensive, and will last up to two hours, depending on what your struggles and personal feeding goals are.
If we are seeing both you and your baby, it will be 1.5 – 2 hours to allow time for a thorough functional oral assessment, breast exam (with your consent), weighted feed, pumping session, and formulating your care plan.
If you are an exclusively pumping parent or if your concerns do not involve latching baby directly, your visit may be as short as 1 hour.
Follow-up visits are usually 1 – 1.5 hours, again depending on the issues at hand. See our video What To Expect in a Lactation Visit for more details.
This is highly individual and impossible to predict ahead of time since we don’t know exactly what is going on until the initial assessment. Our goal is always to get the root cause of your issues identified and resolved as quickly as possible with an effective care plan.
Lactation and infant feeding issues can be complex and often require multiple visits for optimal results. Between 2 – 3 visits is average, however if things are going relatively smoothly and you are just looking for reassurance or to resolve a simple, isolated issue, one visit may be sufficient. Some families need ongoing support for several months.
