Position entails providing breastfeeding support and education to families in the outpatient setting, telephone triage and teaching classes.

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Performs initial and on-going assessments of the patient’s lactation goals and issues.
  • Develops evidence-based feeding plans that address the mother and infant’s feeding issues.
  • Maintains knowledge of current lactation theories and research.
  • Communicates a written plan of care to the client’s health care provider.
  • Plans, assists with, teaches and/or evaluates classes for expectant and new breastfeeding mothers.
  • Promotes and facilitates learning for staff and patients.
  • Maintains the highest professional standards with staff, physicians and patients.
  • Selects appropriate breastfeeding related supplies for retail sale and for rental.
  • Plans, organizes and delivers lactation management services to all breastfeeding patients.
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Is timely to work and adheres to scheduling protocols, absenteeism and tardiness as outlined in Employee Manual.
  • Conducts follow-up phone calls, prospecting phone calls to both clients and healthcare professionals.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.
  • Completes work in a timely fashion.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Current IBCLC certification
  • Current BLS certification
  • Must carry malpractice insurance
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Self-motivated and self-directed; able to work without supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), Google Drive
  • Able to work in a team environment

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Answer phone calls, take detailed messages, and distribute messages appropriately
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and classes
  • Greet visitors in a professional manner, provide information, and direct accordingly
  • Monitor inventory of office supplies; distribute office supplies and restock retail shelves as necessary
  • Maintain and update company logs, policies, and procedures
  • Perform administrative support tasks, including, but not limited to, updating and sorting files, drafting and proofreading correspondence, and conducting research
  • Assist Lactation Consultant with specific duties such as: weighing infants, placing mother and infant skin to skin, assisting mothers with pumping, facilitating support group, assisting with classes, and charting
  • Maintain rented scales and pumps with monthly service checks
  • Assist with performance improvement projects
  • Perform latch consults, pump consults and assists with breastfeeding support group
  • Is timely to work and adheres to scheduling protocols, absenteeism and tardiness as outlined in Employee Manual
  • Conduct follow-up phone calls, prospecting phone calls to both clients and healthcare professionals
  • Carry out other duties as assigned
  • Complete work in a timely fashion
  • Work within office hours: Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm

  • Proof of Completion of Breastfeeding Educator/Peer Counselor Training
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
