Prerequisites for the board examination include thousands of hours of clinical work and educational credits in Anatomy & Physiology, Cultural Diversity, Psychology & Counseling, Child Development, and Nutrition. All IBCLCs are required to provide evidence-based lactation support and adhere to the IBLCE’s Professional Standards.
